Semplice
Semplice (Ital) = Simple (English): Not difficult or complicated, easy; without qualifications, straightforward.
When I decided to record this CD, I had so many ideas of how it should sound and what it should look like. Now, looking at
the finished product, it occurs to me that if we simply let go and don´t force life, things have a way of working out.
"Simple" was the first thing that came to mind when friends told me I had to have a name for my first project,
so I went with the word in Italian for obvious reasons. The arias I chose are primarily the ones that move me, and hopefully
they will also resonate with everyone who listens.
One of the many things I´ve learned from this project is that if you expect to have a CD ready for Christmas,
you must start in June. I usually feel the Christmas spirit in July, but unfortunately I didn’t start recording until November.
Needless to say, the Christmas tracks are early this year! And, I couldn’t resist putting in one of my favorite show tunes,
which happens to be a song about how simple life and love can be if you don’t force it.
